I bought one this afternoon, took a little over an hour to assemble by myself. A couple of the screws at the back are tricky alone, but doable. ( Put a wad of tape under one shelf to hold in place while I got the screw through the hole from the back. )The instructions could be better on order of assembly. The center partition lip goes behind one of the gun barrel rests on the back. I just loosened one screw and put it in then reattached the gun rest. It has a couple small dents on the edge behind the door and one scratch inside that is not a big problem. Helps to start the screws through the nuts before assembling, some seem to have a hard time starting otherwise and some areas it's hard to work with. I used a small angled socket driver to hold the nuts. Overall it wasn't hard to do and is a sturdy cabinet for the money. Mine had a piece of foam under it and one on the top, in a large plastic bag and that was the only inside the box packaging. There are 4 barrel rests in front of the shelves so I installed one lower shelf on the opposite side for more storage. The foam shelf liner is good, I have to cut the bottom piece since I used the partition but I don't expect any problems with that. There are a couple plugs that go through the top holes if you don't attach some pistol ammo cabinet. I may use them to attach an undercabinet light.Katsmi
I got my safe a couple of days early, opened the box to see a really nice dent in the corner of it. Its the same steel as my tool box. I expected heavier metal also the inside shelf is tiny in the picture it looks like it is biggerCurly
Good product/great price
This is a lightweight gun cabinet that will keep your firearms and maybe other items away from your kids. I stuffed it with about 11 long guns in their soft cases in addition to some handguns and ammunition. Works well for what I need it for, and the price means I'm not adding that much to my firearm and ammunition budget. Yes it came a little dented, but I'm not buying this for how it looks, rather how it works and it works well. I also paid less than the price listed so I must've gotten a deal from Walmart.Deke
good storage cabinet
This gun cabinet is exactly what they say it is...it's a cabinet.
I say this because some folks want/need a safe and then buy this cabinet only to later complain when they realize....oops, it's not a safe.
I needed a cabinet and this one meets all my expectations and, as a bonus, it's comes assembled except for the racks inside.
It's quite heavy and strong. Nothing fancy but it does the job perfectly.
I put mine in a closet tucked into one side where it's not visible. It's perfect for this application.
Although it comes with a shelf and racks I did not use them. I keep all my rifles in sleeves and my hand guns in pouches so I just put them inside and I lock the door.
P.S. For lighting, a good idea is to do what I did. Buy some magnetic LED under kitchen cabinet puck lights and just stick them magnetically inside. When you open the door just push the center of the puck light and you're good to go!! I used 2 lights. 1 on top shining down and one on the side shining side to side. It works perfectly.MiamiMike
no key no apology
I ordered this gun cabinet for my husband for Christmas and when he opens it, it has NO key to get into the cabinet. I am furious to have paid all this money and he cant even enjoy it. I called walmart to see what I need to do. Since walmart doesnt actually package the gun cabinets, they gave me the customer service line to Stack on. O.M.G, When the lady answered the phone and I told her what happened, she proceeds to tell me that I have to find they key number and the model number and this and that and they only way I can get a key made is if I send her pictures of all this mess along with a reciept. I NEVER once heard "i apologize for the inconvenience" Just rude! They are lucky I just didnt send it back. I asked her if this is something that they do for security purposes and her response was "it must have fell out the box" uhhh....ok. I am in no way downing Wal-mart. They did exactly what they needed to do to help me, but this will be the last purchase I make with Stack on.ars0101
