The GunVault NV300 Nanovault is the next evolution in the NanoVault line. This safe features an easy-to-operate key lock system and is suitable for home, travel or concealed-weapon permit holders. This portable gun safe can hold a 1911 pistol with a mag and features a 1-1/4" thick memory foam interior for safe keeping. With a 21-gauge steel construction, this GunVault Nanovault is durable and lasting. Each one of these units comes standard with a 1,500-pound test security cable.
Good casual safe, arrived damaged.
This safe is well built, for what it is. Smallest, lightest, least expensive safe I could find for full size pistol + magazine.
This IS NOT a safe that you should use to secure unattended valuables for extended periods of time. It is portable (although less so using the included cable) and could be taken easily. Any determined adult with 15 minutes and a screwdriver could pry this thing open.
However, if you're using it to secure a single pistol in a fairly secure location, it works great. Fit a full size handgun and magazine without modification. 3 digit combination lock works as expected and has a plastic turn knob to open. Meets the requirements of a "locked case" in most states as far as I can tell.
My particular item arrived with a damaged inside rail. The product still closes (because the rail is bent in, not out) and works (closes, locks and opens). I am not sure if this damage is from manufacturer defect or from poor Walmart packing, but either way you get what you pay for.
Hope this review helps.1234
DO NOT BUY !!!!! Nanovault GunVault NV300
Ordered 4 GunVaults for the trunk of my car.
3 came broken.
The locking knob is connected to a shaft of plastic. At the end of the shaft is the locking latch. The latch is held on the shaft by a small C ring.
The plastic (cheap) around the C ring gave way.
I put my finger on the good latch and put some pressure on it and snap!!!
Took them right back to Walmart.
I ABSOLUTELY BELIEVE that if you drop it just right, hammer stright down on the knob or try to pry it open, it will open.
Nanovault must use metal and not plastic and no C ring. Weld the latch on the shaft.
Lots of luck to the one's that own this productSkiSr
Vault exceeded my expectations. Metal is very thick. Cable is thicker then I was expecting. No plastic latch on mine. I am very impressed. Holds my Ruger SR40C w/ the full clip and a spare clip. Walmart price match is pure junk however. The price on this dropped from $33 to $28. Walmart's price match policy is now only 7 days, when it used to be 30 days. This is the second item in 2 months that this has happened with me. Pretty disappointing walmart.farkdawg
This safe fits my compact pistol and a spare mag perfectly. I use the steel cord to loop it through the bed frame.Reviewer19001256
Does the trick to secure a handgun.
The Nanovault 300 is well made and I order three, one for each of my adult children, to secure their pistols. I was a bit disappointed in the shipping as two of the Nanovaults had crush plastic cartons. The crush was bad enough to cause one of the steel Nanovaults to over close and jam it shut. I had to pry the thing open, as one of the halves (which are suppose to close at a butt joint) was press over the lip of the opposite half. While it opened and worked okay, the prying with a screwdriver and the overclosure itself, both caused some paint damage at the lips of safe. All in all, a good product, but Walmart should have taken extra care to prevent the damage.
Two of these Nanovaults took an extra long time getting to me--the ones with the damaged plastic exterior packaging--and I'm suspecting the box they were in was crushed severely and the items just repackaged without a thorough inspection of the items, because the exterior box that finally came to me wasn't damaged at all. I guess that's just the peril of buying online.Toothdok50
